Aylesbury currently has three Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) all located in the town, and all declared because of elevated vehicle emissions of NO2 .What are we doing?Since 2000 we have been engaged in an on-going programme of Review and Assessment of air quality in the district. Where this process has identified that air quality objectives are unlikely to be met, we have declared AQMAs. Details of the three existing AQMAs are provided below.Stoke Road AQMAOnce an AQMA has been declared we are required to produce an Action Plan outlining a number of measures to try and improve the air quality in this area. We are then required to routinely report on progress made with the Action Plan.Tring Road AQMAThis short stretch of the A41 Tring Road was declared an AQMA in July 2005. We have been monitoring this area for a number of years using a number of diffusion tubes and more recently automatic real time monitoring. Friarage Road AQMAA stretch of Friarage Road and Oxford Road, at the junction where they meet, was declared an AQMA in July 2008. We are currently working in partnership with Bucks County Council to deliver actions. Stoke Road AQMAAn area of the Gyratory system covering parts of the Old Stoke Road, Wendover Road and Walton Street was declared an AQMA in July 2008. We are currently working in partnership with Bucks County Council to create an action plan aimed at addressing the issue.
